Ronald R. Greco

Ronald R. Greco, a retired commercial roofing contractor, age 90, of Valley Forge and formally Conshohocken; passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 6, 2024. He was born in Chestnut Hill Hospital on April 26, 1934 son of the late Anthony J. and Eleda A. (Martinelli) Greco. He was the beloved husband of Beverly A. (DeFelice) Greco. Their love for each other spanned over 49 years. Ron was a devout Catholic, and carried with him, an enduring and deep faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ throughout his life. He was devoted to our Blessed Mother. His dedication to his faith was unwavering and served as a guiding light in all aspects of his life. He was kind and generous, big hearted, gentle, and served his family undauntingly. Ron peacefully passed away on Thursday, after bravely fighting through illness for two months. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Ron’s legacy of kindness, generosity and compassion will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he touched. Always the gentleman. Those who knew and loved him will cherish and uphold his lessons of hard work, grit, determination and humility. As a young man; Ron knew the value of hard work, where he worked at the family grocery store on Maple Street in Conshohocken, Greco Super Grocery Market, stocking canned goods and delivering groceries to neighbors, priests and sisters. Before school he would go to the local dairy and milk cows. On weekends, he would work at Alan Wood Steel Mill. Somehow he always managed time for his three horses: Springtime, Thunder and Reds. He had his own landscaping business, where he employed many of his high school football team. Ron attended Conshohocken High School, and later, transferred to Saint Matthew’s High School, Class of 1953; where he quickly emerged as star quarterback and excelled on the gridiron. His talent on the field was undeniable; lettering, and being named All State as starting quarterback. Upon graduation, he went on to serve his country honorably by enlisting in the United States Army amid the Korean War conflict. He was stationed overseas in the Office of Strategic Service (MI). After his military service, he furthered his studies at Villanova University Class of 1960 receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree. Ron also was a realtor; Muntz TV franchise owner in Newark, NJ; used car salesman; commercial roofing contractor; most recently proprietor of Best Construction Services. He was still climbing roofs at the age of 85, but anyone who knew him, that was no surprise. Besides, his wife, Beverly, he is survived by a son, Ronald R. Greco, Jr., two daughters, Dr. Valerie Hunt and Angela Greco, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends. He was pre-deceased by his brother Anthony. He was also the beloved brother-in-law to Joseph DeFelice, David DeFelice, Robert DeFelice, Lori Ann McMonigle, Mary Ellen DeFelice and Michelle DeFelice. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a strong patriot. He enjoyed traveling, horses, clocks, cars, spending time with friends, and just being with his “bride“. Relatives and friends are invited to pay respects on Friday morning, June 14, from 8:45 to 9:45 am at the William A. Moore, Funeral Home, 708 Fayette St., Conshohocken. A funeral mass will commence at 10:30 AM in Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406. Internment is at Saint Augustine Cemetery in King of Prussia. Memorial donations may be made to Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Development Office 2755 Holme Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152 or to Mother of Divine Providence Church at the aforementioned address.
