Harry Edward Strauser Jr.

Harry Edward Strauser Jr., age 85 of Ambler, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022. He was born in Philadelphia on Wednesday, June 17, 1936 son of the late Harry Edward Sr. and Edith Bell (Bowden) Strauser. Harry was the beloved husband of Carol Ann (Lassen) Strauser for over 65 years. To say, “Harry was a devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather”, would be an understatement. As a boy; he enjoyed spending his time fishing with his brother at Sommers Point and hunting at his family hunting camp, Big Springs Camp. At 15 he met the love of his life, Carol while roller skating (a passion they shared) at Carmen Skating Rink. After graduating From Penn State, he was commissioned in the Navy and with pride and patriotism; he served his country honorably. Serving as an officer on the USS Hughes; he made lifelong friends. Later in life he reunited with his Navy friends at reunions and volunteering to restore several ships. He enjoyed many years serving as an executive at National Westminster Bank of England (many are familiar with the NatWest shirts). In his free time, he continued his love of hunting at the camp being a mentor to many; especially to his son, grandson and granddaughter. He loved watching his daughter in riding competitions on her horse remembering every detail of all the classes she competed in. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and visiting family and friends that he met at all stages of life. He supported and encouraged his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in everything they did and everything they wanted to achieve. He saved every program from every horse show, color guard competition, violin recital, and activity because he was so proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed many sleepovers with his grandchildren, greeting the day with, “Hello World”. His great grandchildren were the light of his life, spending hours looking through binoculars for any wildlife that would pass through his backyard. Harry was always willing to help those in need; he touched many lives and will be sorely missed by many but live in our hearts forever. Beside his wife, Carol, he is survived by: a son, Harry Edward III (Theresa); a daughter, Carol Ann McClay (Richard); a brother, George; 4 grandchildren, Carol Ann, Michelle, Melanie and Harry; 3 great-grandchildren, Lily, Emily, and Adam; many nices, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited to pay respects on Saturday morning, January 22nd, 2022 from 9:30-10:45AM at the William A. Moore Funeral Home, 708 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428. A service will commence at 11AM in the funeral home officiated by Rev. Bradley Lacey. Internment is private.
